NORWICH City's unlikely goal hero Alex Tettey was pleased to achieve his personal 'target' during Saturday's historic 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Cameron Jerome's first half strike had put the Canaries in front, before Tettey burst from midfield 10 minutes into the second period and prodded past David De Gea to double his side's advantage.

Although Anthony Martial pulled one back for the hosts, the 29-year-old midfielder's maiden strike of the campaign proved enough to see City secure their first win away to the Red Devils since 1989.

Reflecting on the Barclays Premier League success, Tettey exclusively told canaries.co.uk: "It was a good result, and a good performance which we now have to carry on from.

"Every season I set myself the target to score at least one goal, and it’s come at Old Trafford. I wasn’t expecting it but the nature of the game gave me the opportunity.

"We broke and there was a chance for me to go forward. I got the ball and just tried to finish as quickly as possible; fortunately I managed to score which was very pleasing.

"Normally I'd have run to celebrate in front of the fans but I didn't know what to do so ran the other way!"

The Norway international is now determined for his side to capitalise on the upward momentum gained as they head into their hectic festive schedule, starting away to Tottenham on Boxing Day.

"Beating teams like Manchester United away doesn't happen very often so it was a massive three points," he explained.

"I remember we won against them at home in my first season but to do it away is something completely different. It's almost a bonus three points because other people wouldn't have expected it.

"For the majority of the game we were comfortable, particularly after the first 20 minutes. That shows our strength and it's something we can take confidence from.

"We just need to keep picking up points now. We'll go to Tottenham next and work hard again because that's the only way to get results."
