Angus Gunn rues missed chances

City keeper Angus Gunn was pleased with another clean sheet but was disappointed not to take all three points as Norwich drew 0-0 with Bristol City.

The Canaries missed at least two great chances and had a goal disallowed for offside against an in-form Bristol City.

“We want to win games,” Gunn told the media. “We were the team pushing for it, and I thought we did all right but lacked that final finish. Bristol City are a good team – they beat Stoke in the week and are on a good unbeaten run and we knew it would be tough but I thought we were the better team today.

“We pretty much dominated and were pushing but didn’t quite have the end product to get the three points.”

It was a fourth clean sheet in five games for City, with an injury time consolation goal by Brentford in midweek the only blemish since the 4-0 defeat at Millwall.

“The whole team – the strikers are doing the job defending from the front,” Gunn said. “The back four and myself take massive pride in clean sheets. After the international break something clicked and we’ve done some really great defensive work.

“Maybe the mentality has changed with defending, and it’s something we’re pleased with. But at the end of the day you want to win games.”

Gunn was called on to make a terrific save to deny Jamie Paterson in the second half, reacting quickly to push a fortuitous lob over the bar in front of the Barclay.

“He kicked it with one foot and then it hit his other foot,” he said. “It was a funny one – I thought it was going over but it started spinning off his other foot and I had to drop back, and thankfully I reacted quickly enough to keep it out.”

Today’s match marked his 11th appearance of the season for City, and Gunn says he’s relishing playing so regularly following his loan move from Manchester City. “I’m enjoying it massively,” he says. “It’s not something I was used to, playing two games in a week. It’s been a busy start to the season, including playing in the international break too, and I just want to carry on and keep getting more under my belt and learning.

“The home crowd are always amazing. It’s a great atmosphere, and hopefully we can start getting the goals in and give them something even more to cheer.”
