NORWICH City will welcome three representatives of the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service as its Community Heroes for the visit of Southampton to Carrow Road on Saturday, January 2 (3pm).

The trio have been selected in recognition not only of their own commitment and hard work, but that of all their uniformed and non-uniformed colleagues in the service.

Kev Game, Andy Masterson and Gavin Bogis were all involved in the rescue of a family from a flat fire on Regent Street in Great Yarmouth on December 15.

The fire broke out on the bottom floor of the flat, with the family asleep upstairs.

Although the family were taken to the James Paget Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, all were thankfully discharged shortly afterwards.

The gentlemen will be introduced to the crowd on Saturday as they bring out the matchball ahead of the game.

Please give them a warm Carrow Road welcome in recognition of the dedicated and important service they and all their colleagues at Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service provide to our local community with life-saving emergency provision.

Chief Fire Officer Roy Harold said: "I’m pleased Norwich City Football Club has recognised the hard work and commitment by the emergency services, especially at this time of year.

"It is a really considerate gesture which we would like to thank them for. t has been a difficult decision to nominate just a few of our staff as they all do a fantastic job.

"I hope the three members of staff who are going to Saturday’s match enjoy it and feel proud of their achievements. Rescuing a family from the recent flat fire in Great Yarmouth was a team effort and my thanks go to all of those involved.

"I wish the Canaries all the best on Saturday and for the rest of the season."
