Daniel Farke: It was a balanced performance at Millwall

City showed quality and determination in both boxes to prevail in London, with goals from Marco Stiepermann, Christoph Zimmermann and Teemu Pukki helping them record a fifth win in six league games.

Speaking to canaries.co.uk post-match, Farke said: "I’m very pleased. Millwall is a tough place, especially when the home side is highly-motivated and really focused.

"They were totally switched on and unbelievably greedy to win the points after two losses. For that, it was an unbelievably difficult for us and I’m pretty pleased we were able to win this complicated game.

"It was also well-deserved because of the second-half. It’s complicated to play against Millwall because you can’t avoid all the long balls. They are a side that always tries to go for a set-piece.

"Sometimes you have to accept fighting for second balls and defending set pieces. They are a big threat in those topics and we dealt well with it.

"It was important we brought our game on the pitch and that’s what we did, especially in the second-half. We put a lot of pressure on them and the third goal was a big relief.

"In the last ten minutes, Millwall tried everything in order to threaten our goal but I was also pleased that we were able to defend and not concede one goal in the second-half.

"For that, it was a pretty balanced performance. We scored three times against a side who is pretty tough to score against and always really switched on.

"Our defending was really good as well so for that, I’m very pleased today."

Farke was particularly pleased with his team's second-half display as they recovered from Millwall equalising just before the half-time whistle.

"Millwall score 50% of their goals from set-pieces and they are probably the strongest team in the whole league in this context.

"It’s important that you avoid set pieces. At some points in the first-half, our passing was not quick enough. We were a bit sloppy with the ball and gave away a lot of unnecessary corners.

"We spoke at half-time about being more focused and switched on in the second-half and for that, it was a big, big three points."
