Leeds are unbeaten in three matches after losing seven of their eight previous games in the league, and sit a place outside the play-off places. But Farke expects his men to get on the front foot at Elland Road.

“Leeds is always a tough place to go,” Farke told the media on Friday lunchtime. “They’re a massive club with a massive history and high expectations. They had a brilliant start to the season, then a really tough run. But in the last weeks they’ve done much better. It’s a sign of how close the Championship is. Right now they are in a good position and they will be desperate to have a home win and they will be confident after their last away win.

“We’ve been to tough places this season and we’ve been successful, so we’re going to Leeds to get another good result. When you go away to Leeds a point would be good, but we’ve proved that we can go and win at tough places, so we’ll be looking to do that. We can go to Leeds and be respectful of a strong squad but we’ll have a big will to win some points.”

Farke says Leeds possess a real offensive threat, and are coming off the back of a 3-1 win at QPR, with Kemar Roofe netting a hattrick. “We’ll need to defend well and be compact,” Farke says. “They have a lot of individual quality, especially in their offence. But we’ll also be looking to create chances and to try and score, and I think we’ve improved in that area in the last couple of weeks against Cardiff and Sheffield Wednesday.

“We’re not looking to park the coach and get a lucky goal, we know we can play good football against good squads. So it’s about finding the balance between good defending and scoring goals.”

Farke says he’s pleased that players returning from injury means he has a selection headache to make, especially in the midfield area.

“I thought Mario Vrancic was the best player on the pitch against Cardiff and had a really good second half against Sheffield Wednesday,” Farke said. “And I thought Harrison Reed has been really good in the last few games. It’s a nice problem to have to find the right balance now we have Tom Trybull and Alex Tettey back.”
