Daniel Farke: We stick together during tough times

Norwich City Head Coach Daniel Farke has been pleased with the unity he’s seen in his team since they had their Premier League relegation confirmed.

City’s young squad will learn and grow from the experience of finishing at the foot of the table, Farke added in his pre-Burnley press conference.

“We were hoping we could cope with the challenges more successfully in terms of points,” he said. “We learn and try to improve in every part of the game every day.

“We stick together during the tough times. I'm proud of that behaviour. Everyone will grow from this experience.

“We want to break our result curse and say goodbye to this season with top performances and points. Our fans have suffered a lot and we want to make them happy.

“Hopefully we can return to the Premier League as soon as possible and stay for longer than we did this season.”

As for this weekend’s opposition, Farke is full of admiration for Burnley, Sean Dyche and the way the club has gone about its business since returning to the topflight.

“Burnley have shown so much consistency and resilience with one loss in 14 games, so it won't be easy,” Farke added. “It's important to be ourselves. Our ideas are different and we want to play on the front foot.

“They are role models for going down and coming back up. I'm full of praise for Sean's work. They proved you can come back stronger. Jurgen Klopp was promoted with Mainz, then got relegated, but now look where he and they are.

“Next time we will try to be better prepared and stay for longer.”

Farke also welcomed the news from Prime Minister Boris Johnson that fans could be allowed to return to football grounds from October, as lockdown restrictions are updated in England.

“We play football for the supporters, so it's been strange behind closed doors,” he said. “We're looking forward to having them back as soon as we can, but it's important to listen to the experts and maintain strict protocols that have worked well.”
