Daniel Farke: We will have to be focused against Stevenage

Daniel Farke wants his City side to dominate the ball when they take on League Two Stevenage in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Farke is expecting a physical battle against Stevenage, who got their season up and running with a 3-1 win at Crawley Town on Saturday.

“Stevenage have had a good start and there'll be no pressure on them,” Farke told the media on Monday lunchtime. “They’ll come here looking to present themselves well against a team in a higher division, and they’ll be of confidence.

“We have to be really, really focussed. They are a pretty experienced side with lots of players over 30. They often play with three tall strikers over 6ft 3in so we have to dominate the ball.

“We have to make sure we win the second balls and win the headers. Then we can look to dominate the ball so they have to chase us.”

Farke confirmed he will make changes for the match as City face four games in 12 days, but wants to go as far as possible in the Carabao Cup.

“The cup has high priority for us,” Farke said. “We are preparing for it like we do for a league game. We want to win each and every match, and we want to travel far in the competition.”
