Connections between City and their weekend opponents

MIDFIELDER Henri Lansbury joined Nottingham Forest from Arsenal in the summer of 2012, and has gone on to make 134 league appearances for the club to date, scoring 27 times.

He spent the 2010-11 campaign with City on loan from the Gunners, finding the net four times in 15 Championship starts to help Paul Lambert's side secure promotion to the Premier League.

Among Lansbury's teammates that season was Grant Holt, who featured alongside Northern Ireland midfielder Sammy Clingan for Forest during the 2006-07 season.

Holt's goals saw him named Player of the Year as the Tricky Trees earned promotion to the Championship, with Clingan signing for City soon after - something Holt would do two years later.

The frontman would go on to become the first player in Canaries history to claim three successive Player of the Year Awards, with his 68 league goals between 2009 and 2013 influential in Norwich's rise through the divisions.

Another duo whose paths briefly crossed were Andy Johnson and David Phillips, who were on City's books from 1992 to 1997 and 1989 to 1993 respectively.

The pair both moved to Forest at the end of their time in Norfolk, each going on to make in excess of 100 league appearances for the midlands outfit.

Going further back, the late Justin Fashanu and Martin O'Neill moved in opposite directions in 1981; the former moving from City to Nottingham while the latter made the reverse journey.

O'Neill would eventually take over as manager at Carrow Road for a brief time in 1995, while Fashanu's life was tragically cut short in 1998 at the age of just 37.

Finally, Norwich's summer recruit Nelson Oliveira spent the 2015-16 season on loan at the City Ground, scoring nine goals in 24 league starts.
