12 months ago City were travelling to the KC Stadium for a pre-season friendly – but now the two teams meet in the Premier League after the Tigers’ promotion last year.

It finished 0-0 that day, but this is a game in which both sides will be eyeing their first three points of the campaign after Hull slipped to defeat at Chelsea and the Canaries were of course held to a draw by Everton at Carrow Road.

Former City defender and current Hull boss Steve Bruce has been busy in the transfer market as he tries to bolster his squad for their assault on the Premier League, with the double raid on Tottenham Hotspur for Jake Livermore on loan and Tom Huddlestone grabbing the headlines in recent weeks.

Norwich last tasted victory at the KC Stadium back in 2007, with Hull just edging the overall head-to-head record with 13 wins to the Canaries’ 12, with the teams contesting eight draws.

The Canaries maintained their position in the automatic promotion spots in the Championship, despite a Nicky Barmby equaliser denying them all three points at the KC Stadium.

Zak Whitbread had nodded in a David Fox set-piece to give City the advantage at the break, but former England international Barmby, who went on to manage the Tigers, pounced with 15 minutes left on the clock.

Then-manager Paul Lambert said afterwards: “That’s a massive point for us, no doubt about it. Coming to a club that’s been going really well and playing like we did is great.

“It was really pleasing to get a result that keeps us in second place in the league.”

REFEREE – Mike Jones…
Chester-born official Mike Jones will take charge of his first Premier League game of the season when he walks out at the KC Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

He made his 2013/14 bow in the Championship last weekend, overseeing Reading’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Watford at the Madejski Stadium.

Jones’ most recent Norwich City game was the Canaries’ 3-1 defeat to Arsenal towards the end of last season, when a controversial penalty decision led to the Gunners’ equalising Michael Turner’s opener.

He awarded 85 yellow cards and three red cards last year, with that including the dismissal of Manchester City’s Samir Nasri during their visit to Carrow Road in December.
