January business
Derby’s transfer window was relatively quiet, considering their busy summer where they splashed out over £10 million on the likes of Tom Lawrence, Andre Wisdom and Tom Huddlestone.

Gary Rowett made two signings last month with one of them making the move to the east Midlands from Carrow Road.

Cameron Jerome scored 42 goals for City during a four-year spell but decided to make the move to Derby in January.

The Rams also signed young England midfielder Kasey Palmer on loan from Chelsea after the youngster’s previous spell at Huddersfield Town was cut short.

Palmer played a key role for The Terriers during their promotion-clinching season last year and has now joined Derby in an attempt to help them achieve the same feat.

The only permanent departure from Rowett’s squad last month was Johnny Russell who ended his four-year stay at Pride Park for a move to Sporting Kansas City of the MLS.

Key players
Derby’s overall form this season has been built on being solid at the back and their most recent defensive displays have seen them pick up four consecutive clean sheets.

Integral to that are centre-back pairing Curtis Davies and Richard Keogh. The experienced duo have played the most minutes in the Sky Bet Championship for The Rams this year, only behind goalkeeper Scott Carson.

On average, Davies makes 8.5 clearances per game and Keogh 6.8 clearances per game, outlining their no nonsense approach to defending.

Up-front, Czech striker Matej Vydra has rediscovered the form he showed during his time at Watford, particularly during the 2012-13 season where he bagged 20 goals to help the Hornets to the Championship play-offs.

This term, Vydra has scored 16 goals, making him the league’s top scorer.

Last time out
Derby have been in imperious form since losing to Ipswich Town at the end of November and they extended their unbeaten run to 11 league matches with victory over Brentford last weekend.

Ex-Canary Sergi Canos saw red after just 21 minutes for a tackle on Marcus Olsson and Derby immediately took full advantage.

Tom Huddlestone scored the first before Cameron Jerome got his account open for Derby moments later.

Matej Vydra added gloss to the scoreline in stoppage time to maintain Derby’s spot in the automatic promotion places.
