Jamal Lewis says Norwich City's display against Cardiff City on Saturday didn't match the outcome as they went down to a 2-0 Sky Bet Championship defeat at Carrow Road.
The Canaries dominated long periods of the game, only for two late goals to see the Bluebirds come away with victory.
"It was quite a good performance from the lads, especially first half," Lewis told Norwich City TV.
"We had some good chances. It's just disappointing to not even get a point out of the game.
"At the end of the day, we weren't good enough in both boxes. When you miss a couple of chances, it puts pressure on the back four and gives Cardiff hope.
"It's disappointing but hopefully we can bring a better performance, and three points, into next weekend's game."
With goals having been at a premium for Daniel Farke's side across this season, the Academy graduate is looking to change that in the 2018-19 campaign.
"We've had to work hard for our goals but that's something we can improve upon next season," he explained.
"We need to be more clinical in the box. We need to keep up the performances, improve on them, then do that.
"This was always seen as a transitional season. It was always going to be difficult to excel in the league, although it would have been nice.
"We'll work on our weaknesses and hopefully be fighting for promotion next season."
