NEIL Adams doesn’t want any drop in his side’s progress as he readies them for the visit of Birmingham City on Saturday (3pm).

The Canaries are unbeaten in seven games in all competitions after Tuesday night’s 3-0 win at Brentford.

Adams has been happy with how his players have dealt with the back-to-back nature of their fixture run up to now.

“It’s a big test for us, it’s a big test for the players physically as well, but so far so good,” he told Norwich City TV.

“It’s about making sure we don’t undo the good work. We’ve had two tough away games and got six points from them, which is a fantastic return for us, but we have to underline that now with more points and more victories.

“Birmingham are a tough outfit but we’re confident going into it that we can keep this run going.”

Lee Clark’s Blues are hovering just above the relegation places with just one victory from their opening set of games, but Adams says they won’t be underestimating any team this season.

“I think you do at your peril. We’ll research them, we’ll give them every respect, the same as we will every other team in the division, but as we always say it will be about us,” he added.

“I always feel if we’re playing at the top of our game with the right sort of approach and our quality shines through, then we’re more than capable of beating any team in the division.

“We’re only too aware as well that if we don’t play to our capabilities, and I’m talking about the first 45 minutes at Cardiff, that’s what can happen. Birmingham will do that too us if we allow them to, so we just have to make sure it’s about us and we’re at it.”

City’s boss also offered the latest fitness update on the squad ahead of the weekend.

“Russell (Martin) seemed better on Wednesday. He’s confident he’ll be ok for Saturday, but players always are. You never get a player that says they’ve got no chance, but I think that’s a good thing. You like that positive attitude, but we’ll have to wait and see,” he said.

“Wes (Hoolahan) had a little bit of a knock on his ankle, we’ll have a look at that, I wouldn’t say he’s a doubt at the moment – he didn’t come off because of his injury, we found out he’d hurt his ankle when he came off so that’s a good thing.

“The medical people will do what they need to do, and Wes will be confident that he can make it. Other than that I think everybody came through pretty unscathed so we’re really pleased.”

The Canaries’ Under-21s welcome Leicester City to Colney on Friday afternoon and Adams confirmed that both Jonny Howson and Gary Hooper will start as over-age players.

“They will be both play in that and Ignasi Miquel will play too, just to get some minutes under their belts,” he added.

“It’s important that we certainly monitor the minutes or lack of minutes that anybody has or hasn’t played. Of course the Shrewsbury came is coming up and I’ll look to bring one or two into that one.

“It will be great to have Jon and Gary back in competitive action, and obviously Iggy with his first real taste of action in a competitive game for us. Those three will start on Friday.”
