Winger Elliott Bennett has returned to Norwich City following the completion of his loan spell with Brighton & Hove Albion, having started in both of his two final games for the Sussex side.

On Boxing Day the 26-year-old played an hour of the 2-2 draw at home to Reading, before winning a 60th minute penalty to set his team on the way to an impressive 2-0 victory away to Fulham three days later.

In total, Bennett made seven appearances for the Seagulls, but is ruled out of an immediate return to the City squad with a minor hamstring problem picked up in his final game.

Also back with the Club is fellow winger Jacob Murphy, who ended his temporary stint at Blackpool with starts in their 1-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday and 1-1 draw with Rotherham United over the festive period.

Having joined Blackpool at the start of November, the 19-year-old appeared nine times for the Tangerines, scoring twice.

A further player set to be back at Carrow Road in the near future is Sebastien Bassong, with his current loan deal due to expire on 9 January.

The Cameroon international featured for the entirety of Watford’s 1-0 home defeat on Boxing Day to Wolves, before being absent for their 4-2 win over Cardiff the following Sunday.

That absence continued over the FA Cup Third Round weekend, with the 28-year-old not involved as the Hornets were beaten 3-0 by Chelsea.

In Sky Bet League One, Harry Toffolo returned after almost a month out of action when he came on as a second half substitute during Swindon Town’s 4-1 victory at Walsall on Boxing Day.

The 19-year-old then played the whole of the Robins' 1-0 win over Port Vale at the County Ground 48 hours later, before most recently completing 90 minutes of the 2-2 draw at Fleetwood this weekend.

Swindon's latest result saw them move to the top of table at the expense of Bristol City, with Toffolo having helped his side to keep four clean sheets in the six league games he has started.

Also involved in those three matches was midfielder Louis Thompson, who made a particularly dramatic impact in the meeting with Fleetwood by netting an 88th minute equaliser as Swindon fought back from two goals behind.

The 20-year-old continues to form a key part of Mark Cooper's side as they push for promotion, with 28 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.

In the fourth tier, Carlton Morris came off the bench in the latter stages of each of York City’s two fixtures over the Christmas weekend as they picked up a valuable six points which eased their relegation concerns.

On Boxing Day the Minstermen edged their way to a 1-0 home win over Accrington Stanley, before seeing off Carlisle United in convincing fashion with a 3-0 victory at Brunton Park.

York followed those results up with an equally impressive battling 0-0 draw with Plymouth Argyle on Saturday despite playing with 10 men for over an hour, with Morris an unused substitute.

Finally, goalkeeper Remi Matthews was an unused substitute in Burton Albion’s 2-0 win over Tranmere Rovers on Boxing Day in what turned out to be the final game of his loan spell.

The City youngster had been set to take on a similar role in the Brewers' second game of the festive weekend away to Accrington Stanley, but the game was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
