HARRY Toffolo's Scunthorpe United moved back to the summit of Sky Bet League One with Saturday's 3-2 victory over Port Vale.
Toffolo provided the assist for Tom Hopper's winning goal as the Iron lifted themselves above Sheffield United following a battling three points at Glanford Park.
The visiting Valiants twice went ahead but after debutant Ivan Toney pulled Graham Alexander's team back to 2-2, Toffolo's pinpoint cross from the left was met by Hopper to secure their third league win in a row.
Elsewhere in the division, Declan Rudd's Charlton Athletic grabbed an against-the-odds win away to promotion-chasing Bolton Wanderers.
Lewis Page was dismissed for the Addicks after only 11 minutes and just moments later, Zach Clough put Bolton ahead with an exquisite free-kick.
The ten men rallied, however, and went in at half-time 2-1 in front thanks to goals from Patrick Bauer and Nathan Byrne.
Rudd, who only recently returned from a hip injury, helped keep Wanderers at bay in the second period as Charlton extended their unbeaten run to five matches.
North of the border Tony Andreu notched his 12th goal of the season, with Dundee United drawing 1-1 away to Dunfermline in the Scottish Championship.
United are now on a run of five games without a win, resulting in them dropping eight points behind league pacesetters Hibernian.
In the tier above, Remi Matthews was an unused substitute for Hamilton Academical in their 3-0 loss at St Johnstone.
