Norwich City held Brighton & Hove Albion to a 0-0 draw at the Amex Community Stadium on Saturday, Neal Maupay missing a penalty in the first half for the home side.
Dean Smith made five changes to the Norwich team that started March's game against Leeds United, Sam Byram, Grant Hanley, Dimitris Giannoulis, Billy Gilmour and Mathias Normann coming in for Max Aarons, Ozan Kabak, Brandon Williams, Lukas Rupp and Josh Sargent.
The Canaries had four Academy graduates on the bench in Jonathan Tomkinson, Abu Kamara, Tony Springett and Jonathan Rowe.
The opening 25 minutes were full of half-chances for Brighton, Tariq Lamptey first to strike low from long range and see his shot deflected into Tim Krul's gloves.
Maupay found lots of time and space but shot over the bar, before scuffing an attempt into Danny Welbeck, who couldn't connect cleanly.
Alexis Mac Allister was next to shoot wide from long range, and Marc Cucurella's cross was headed down by Welbeck to Joël Veltman, who blasted high and wide on the volley.
Eventually, Brighton were presented with a clear cut opportunity when Byram handled the ball in the penalty area to concede a spot kick.
Krul provided his usual routine to put off the penalty taker, and Maupay proceeded to smash the ball over the bar.
Kenny McLean shot wide from distance at the other end for City's first attempt of the game.
Mac Allister curled wide from Solly March's free-kick in the 38th minute, and March then fired over from a Pascal Groß corner.
Another shot flew wide from Mac Allister on the brink of half time, allowing the two sides to go into the break at 0-0.
The trend continued into the second half, Leandro Trossard showing good footwork in the 18-yard box and having his shot blocked by Byram.
Krul made a great reflex save to deny Veltman, before another Brighton corner reached Maupay, who shot into the side netting.
Smith then brought Rowe on for Pierre Lees-Melou before Hanley made a trio of important blocks against Trossard and Maupay.
Lamptey then volleyed over from another Brighton corner, before Lewis Dunk bounced a header wide of the post.
March cut in from the left and shot straight at Krul, and Maupay then cushioned a shot wide of the post having been found by Trossard.
City had their first chance of the second half when Teemu Pukki crossed for Milot Rashica, who side-footed over the bar.
The latter was replaced by Christos Tzolis, and McLean drilled a shot into the side netting before Pukki lifted an attempt over.
Mac Allister had a volley punched away from the edge of the area in the 90th minute.
In stoppage time, after another Hanley block, Kieran Dowell replaced McLean.
Despite Brighton's plethora of shots, the Seagulls were unable to break through, and Norwich couldn't make any of their opportunities, that were few and far between, find the back of the net.
