“We know what type of injury it is, he’s damaged a ligament in his ankle. He had a scan on Sunday and we’re just assessing now how long he’s going to be out. We’ll seek the advice from the experts; that will be done over the next couple of days, but you could tell straight away that Wes knew he had done something to his ankle.

“He said on Sunday that he thought it would feel worse than it did, which is slightly positive news. Obviously there’s damage in there, he has injured himself but in terms of putting a timescale on it, I think that will only be determined in the next two or three days when the medical people have got together and decided just how bad it is.”

… GETTING THE JOB DONE ON TUESDAY
“We have to. It’s as simple as that. As I said afterwards, it’s pleasing to play with the tempo and the dominance that we are at the minute, but it is about scoring goals and getting points. That was the frustrating thing for me, looking back at the Fulham game. I think we had 62 or 63 per cent of possession, and when you have that much of the ball you’ve got to be looking at clear goalscoring chances, and that’s what we didn’t do.

“That’s what we’re totally focussed on now, getting back to winning ways, winning the game on Tuesday night and kicking on again.”

… EIGHT GAMES WITHOUT A FIRST HALF GOAL
“We’re well aware of it. It’s strange how we tend to start the second half much brighter than we do the first half. It isn’t for the want of being aware of it, or the want of trying if you like, but it is something we’ve got to look at. Maybe it’s the depth of the team; how high or deep we play in a game. I think naturally as well through a game, the longer it goes the more the players are into the game and the more risks you take if you need to take a risk.

“With us not scoring in the first half, a lot of the time we’ve conceded the first goal which naturally brings you out, and then you start to go for it. It will be good to do that from the start, as we’ve said now for two or three weeks, and get that first goal.”

… LEEDS UNITED
“We’re two big clubs – Leeds are a huge club with a big history and they usually have a good support as well. It’s been topsy-turvy for them, with the way things have gone with the managers and the caretaker managers. We’re just looking at how they play and what their strengths and weaknesses are.

“They like to try and play with intricate passing and we’re doubtful that will change too much. Yes they’ve had a few people in charge of the team but generally they’ve tended to keep the same playing style and that’s obviously what we’ll be expecting and what we’ll be ready to deal with on Tuesday.”

“Jos (Hooiveld) just twinged his knee on the Friday. He did a little bit with the physios on Sunday, but then he trained with the squad on Monday as did Kyle Lafferty."
