NEIL Adams described Norwich City’s appointment of Mike Phelan to his coaching staff as a ‘great coup’.
Former Canaries skipper Phelan, previously assistant manager to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United until Ferguson’s retirement, will join as First-Team Coach next Wednesday.
“He was really keen to come in. Hopefully it will be a really successful era. In terms of the calibre of coach we’re bringing in, we’re really delighted with what we’ve got,” Adams told Norwich City TV.
“The experience he has with the clubs he’s worked at, particularly his last club Manchester United – he’s seen virtually everything you need to have seen, albeit at a higher level.
“He’s vastly experienced, and working with Sir Alex Ferguson for a number of years, he will have picked up countless bits of information, little titbits, that will stand him and us well ongoing.
“It’s obviously a club he knows well, he was captain here for a while. It’s a great coup for us that he’s agreed to join us.”
