ALEX Neil wants Saturday's thrilling 2-1 win at Bournemouth to be the springboard for a positive second half of the season.

Norwich City's new manager watched on from first the stands and then the dugout as Cameron Jerome's superb late strike completed a memorable comeback for the ten-man Canaries at the Goldsands Stadium.

When reflecting after the game, Neil couldn't hide his pleasure at the result and the nature of the performance by his team.

"It doesn't get much better than that. I think Bournemouth we're 14 games unbeaten, and they're a good side. They're deservedly at the top of league, but we've got some good players," he said.

"The spirit of your group is shown in adversity, and I think we showed that when we went down to ten men in the second half.

"I'm just really pleased with everybody connected with Norwich; that we managed to turn it around and get the three points.

"If we can kick on between now and the end of the season, hopefully we can climb a few positions in the league."

Neil praised the impact of first-team coaches Mike Phelan and Gary Holt, who prepared the squad for the match with the 33-year-old's appointment only being confirmed on Friday.

"They'd worked with the squad all week in terms of the game plan. I spoke to the lads in the hotel last night about how I want do certain things, but most of the credit has to go to those guys," he stated.

"Before the game, at half-time and after the match, I had a chat with them as well, but it's a team effort. It will always be that way.

"I came down to the side of the pitch to try and lend a hand and make sure we were as organised as we could be.

"To be honest, we tried to see the game out without conceding another goal, and hopefully try and nick something at the other end, and we managed to do that with a fantastic goal from Cameron Jerome. I'm really, really pleased to get the three points."
