Nelson Oliveira delighted to maintain unbeaten run

Nelson Oliveira was delighted to help Norwich City earn a point against Hull City but felt he and his teammates probably deserved more.

City trailed 1-0 for the majority of the second half and Oliveira was introduced with around 15 minutes to play – the Canaries’ top scorer made his mark on the game in stoppage time, diverting the ball home after Cameron Jerome’s flick-on.

And the City striker said his team were unlucky not to take all three points.

“It’s always good to score in the last minute but more important than that is we didn’t lose,” said Oliveira. “We’ve kept the unbeaten run and I think we deserved something out of this game.

“We showed that we were the better team and I think maybe we deserved more than a draw. We were 1-0 down and scoring in the last minute is very important and it gives us an important point.

“Our spirit is very good, our togetherness is very good too. So we believe until the end and that’s what we did today.

“I believe until the referee does this [blows his whistle] we always have a chance.”

The point helped stretch City’s unbeaten run to eight matches in all competitions and Oliveira says they need to maintain their form if they want to have a successful season.

“We are doing very well,” he continued. “In September we had an unbelievable month and we have to do this next month again and in every month if we want to get promoted."

It’s been an injury-blighted start to the season for Oliveira and he hopes his late cameo and goal will give him confidence going forward.

“I struggled with my groin but last week I did a few sessions and trained hard and today I was able to play a few minutes, but I wasn’t fit to start the game. It was good playing 20 minutes and to give myself some confidence for the next match.”
