NORWICH City earlier completed the signing of Coventry City youngster James Maddison, with the 19-year-old returning to the Sky Blues on loan until the end of the season, subject to approval from the relevant footballing bodies.

The attacking-minded midfielder progressed through Coventry’s Academy before making his senior debut as a substitute in their 2-1 Capital One Cup defeat to Cardiff City in August 2014.

His maiden league appearance followed in October of that year; Maddison once again coming off the bench as Coventry were beaten at Crewe Alexandra in Sky Bet League One.

Handed a first professional start ten days later, he opened his account for the West Midlands club by netting what turned out to be a consolation during a 4-1 loss at Oldham Athletic.

Maddison gradually began to establish himself into the Coventry side, making a total of 18 appearances during the 2014-15 campaign, scoring twice.

This term saw the teenager installed as a regular from the outset, ahead of suffering an ankle injury in August which sidelined him for three months.

He returned to action just prior to Christmas, scoring crucial late goals against Port Vale and Chesterfield to help keep Tony Mowbray’s men in the promotion hunt.

Over the course of his entire Coventry career to date, Maddison - a current team-mate of Norwich Academy graduate Jacob Murphy - has made 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals.
