NORWICH City's poor form on the road continued as they were beaten 3-0 by Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

There was little between the two sides before Jonathan de Guzman broke the deadlock half an hour in with a crisp half-volley from 18 yards.

De Guzman got his and his team's second after a swift interchange with Wilfried Bony eight minutes later, before Wayne Routledge's calm finish fifteen minutes from time wrapped up the win.

The Canaries' best chance came in the opening stages of the second period when Robert Snodgrass had a shot cleared off the line.

It means Chris Hughton's men have now failed to pick up any points away from Carrow Road since New Year's Day.

City's boss was forced into his only change before kick-off as Ryan Bennett was brought in for the injured Joseph Yobo, who felt his calf in training on Friday.

Swansea also made just one alteration from their impressive 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night as Ben Davies replaced Neil Taylor at left-back.

The home team’s comfort in possession was evident in the opening exchanges, and a fluid move led to Michu finding some space on eight minutes – his shot, however, lacked the composure of the build-up.

Chances were at a premium as the match settled into a slow tempo, with the next opportunity presenting itself to Michu again as he met Jonjo Shelvey’s cross at the back-post, only to nudge his effort wide.

John Ruddy then saved from Wayne Routledge, with Wes Hoolahan swiping the ball clear of the advancing de Guzman just in the nick of time.

The hosts made their pressure tell on the half hour, however, as Shelvey’s delivery from the right was only half cleared to de Guzman on the edge of box, and the Dutchman hit a controlled half volley which Ruddy was able to get a hand to but not keep out.

Eight minutes later, the same man doubled the Swans’ lead after City gave away possession cheaply in the midfield.

De Guzman fed Wilfried Bony before receiving the forward’s deft back-heel into the box and finishing coolly past Ruddy.

Russell Martin side-footed a volley into the arms of Michel Vorm up the other end but Swansea looked even more dangerous as the Canaries tried to force a way back into the game, exploiting the ever-growing space in the middle of the park.

HALF-TIME: Swansea City 2-0 Norwich City

City’s double-change at half-time, which involved withdrawing Jonny Howson and Hoolahan for Jonas Gutierrez and Bradley Johnson, sparked their best chance of the game just seconds after the break.

Alex Tettey’s cross from the right found its way to Snodgrass on the edge of the area, and his first-time shot was cleared off the line by Ashley Williams after beating the outstretched hand of Vorm.

Shelvey, the fulcrum of most of Garry Monk’s side’s attacking forays, pulled an effort wide up the other end but City weren’t giving in as the half progressed, even though they found it difficult to create further opportunities.

Ryan Bennett blocked Bony’s goalbound shot superbly on 71 minutes but they got their decisive third goal four minutes later.

Shelvey broke from deep and slid in Routledge on the left hand side of the box, and the winger finished across the helpless Ruddy to relax any home nerves that may still have been lingering.

Sebastien Bassong almost had the misfortune of turning into his own net, but City’s players weren’t threatening the goal up the other end despite the introduction of Gary Hooper.
