Timi Odusina: I'm relishing the responsibility

Timi Odusina believes Norwich City Under-23s' 2-2 draw at Newcastle United on Monday evening demonstrates the youngsters' collective resilience.

Matt Gill's side found themselves two goals down to an experienced Magpies outfit early on, but fought back superbly at St. James' Park to earn a point in the Premier League 2.

"It was quite surreal playing against the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Rolando Aarons," Odusina told

"The boys did well in terms of sticking to the game-plan. We didn't focus on them too much and were really proud of the performance.

"We were unlucky not to put more of our chances away. You can see that we've built a real togetherness as a team over the past few weeks.

"The new boys have settled in and brought something else to the team."

Odusina says he is relishing taking on a more senior role within the Development Squad, having established himself as a first-choice player this term.

"I'm enjoying my football and I'm enjoying playing every week," he added.

"I've had new responsiblity put on me as one of the more experienced ones in the back four. The team's playing well and we're on a roll at the moment.

"It's all happened so fast. I still remember going to Manchester City in the FA Youth Cup as a 16-year-old, which was a great experience.

"Everything has happened in the space of a year or so but I'm loving every second. I'm looking to learn as much as I can."

Next up for the Under-23s is Blackburn Rovers on Sunday (2pm) at Carrow Road, a place where the centre-back enjoyed a memorable start to during his maiden outing in yellow and green.

"The first time I played there, I knew it was special," the 17-year-old explained.

"We played Middlesbrough in the FA Youth Cup and won from 3-1 down. I remember how much the fans pushed us through, especially when it went into extra-time.

"The atmosphere that night was special so being at home is a big motivation for the boys. We thrive off the fans.

"We've been playing well and we're looking forward to going up against Blackburn."
