NORWICH City’s unity is unyielding in spite of recent results, according to manager Neil Adams.

One win in ten has seen the Canaries drop into the heart of the Sky Bet Championship table, but their boss believes they maintain the foundations that will enable them to turn their form around.

Adams was speaking in the lead up to Saturday’s trip to Wigan Athletic (3pm).

“It’s been really pleasing to see the attitude and the togetherness of the players in the changing room and on the training ground,” he told Norwich City TV.

“It’s a cliché, the sticking together thing, but particularly when results aren’t going well and the pressure’s on, it’s certainly a philosophy to relish.

“That’s the type of attitude you need as a group, and it’s not just the players - it needs to come right through the staff and the supporters, who I thought were excellent on Saturday.

“If you can maintain that, then you’ve got the best possible chance of turning it around, which I feel we can. You just want that win to get you back off and running again.”

Adams revealed that injured trio Ryan Bennett, Wes Hoolahan and Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe are all back in full training but that this weekend’s game at the DW Stadium is likely to come around too quickly for any of them to play a part.

“It’s probably unlikely. I wouldn’t rule it out because the players will tell you themselves that they’re ready, but it’s just a case then of making absolutely sure,” he explained.

“What you don’t want to do is have them getting an injury – even if it’s not the original injury – because they’re not quite ready.

“Players will always want to play and it’s great that all three of them do, and of course I want them back in the squad as quickly as possible, but we have to do what’s right.”

Alex Tettey will be available said Adams despite limping off last Saturday, as City prepare to face a Latics side that are languishing in the relegation zone despite pre-season promotion aspirations.

“I’m a little bit surprised, because at the start of the campaign they might have been one of about a dozen teams that would have been up there in the mix, but they’ve struggled to get the results,” he said.

“They’ve got talented players and players that can hurt you, but they’ve also got weaknesses as well.

“We need to stick to our guns with our attacking principles, but it’s those individual errors we go back to, and the unnecessary goals that we’re conceding that we feel if we eliminate, then it can result in winning games again.”
