David Wright: We have a good chance to qualify

3 November 2017

David Wright hopes his Under-18s can maintain their solid start to the Premier League Cup with another good performance and result this weekend.

After the 4-0 thrashing of Reading in their previous Group C fixture, the youngsters take on Southampton at Colney on Saturday.

Following that is the visit of Manchester City to Colney at the start of December and the U18s boss is looking forward to the challenges ahead.

“It’s a real opportunity for us because if we beat Southampton I think we may be through and then we’ve got Manchester City to play,” said Wright.

“These tests are going to be really good for the boys. Because the league format has changed, we don’t have the Merit Group anymore which gives us an opportunity to play the likes of Man City.

“It will be a tough game [against Southampton]. Hopefully we can put on a good performance on Saturday and that will give us real momentum heading into the City game.”

Kick-off for Saturday’s match is at 11am with parking and admission both free at the Colney Training Centre.
