Norwich City under-23s conceded a late equaliser as they were held to a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion at the Lotus Training Centre.
The Canaries fell beind early on, but were in front at the break thanks to two goals from Matthew Dennis before the visitors fought back in the second half to claim a point.
Norwich had a couple of early chances inside the opening 10 minutes as Zach Dronfield had a shot headed off the line and Tom Dickson-Peters sliced an effort wide.
However, in what was an open first 15 minutes of the match, it was the visitors who took the lead when Rico Richards threaded a pass through Jovan Malcolm and he poked a shot past Daniel Barden.
Norwich began to get control of the first half from that point on though and Dennis showed a good bit of pace to get in behind the Albion defence only to be tripped, as he was about to shoot, by a clumsy challenge from Harry Williams. Dennis stepped up to take the spot kick and sent West Brom keeper Ted Cann the wrong way to make it 1-0.
A couple of minutes later and Dennis was in again and, this time, his outside of the boot finish found the bottom corner as Cann tried to close him down.
The second half began with West Bromwich Albion on top as Zachary Ashworth sent an effort onto the roof of the net, before Toby King brought a save out of Barden and then rattled the base of the post with another effort.
However, as the game to began to switch from end to end, Norwich had a glorious chance to extend their lead as Dennis' low ball across the six yard box was blazed over the bar by Dickson-Peters. Dennis then almost grabbed his hat-trick as Cann turned his effort, destined for the bottom corner, around the post.
Those missed chanced proved to be costly as the game continued to be played in an open manner in the final stages as Barden saved superbly from Jamie Soule's close range volley, tipping the effort onto his post.
So, the warning signs were there, and when Soule floated a cross to the back post, with two minutes remaining, fellow substitute Jamie Andrews was in the right place to nod the ball back across goal and into the net.
