Norwich City Academy striker Abu Kamara says he is enjoying the new system that the under-23s are playing following a 5-3 victory over Leiston in pre-season.
Abu scored one and set up another in the match, which saw Norwich create several chances and score five good goals.
“I thought it was a bright performance from the lads because we have been working in training on this new formation that we have been playing and I thought we carried the press, out of possession, very well,” said Abu.
“It was really fluid between the units, so the midfielders were getting on the ball and having a lot of success and sliding the strikers through. That showed today, which was good.”
“I like it (the new formation) because you are not locked into one position, it is fluid. So, if I start as a striker, I can still end up in the 10 position and it is the same for the other players. It confuses the defenders, and it gives us more space and more space to run in behind.”
It is now two games into the pre-season and under-23s have won one and drawn the other. Abu says the players are looking forward to the new season and will be ready when the games come around.
“The spirits are high everyone is feeling in top shape, we are just working on pre-season and getting our fitness up,” he said. “Fixing the problems with our play, getting our touches tidy.”
