The Monthly U9-U14 Life skills programme started in September with an excellent workshop led by Craig Pinkney from SOLVE.

The Monthly U9-U14 Life skills programme started in September with an excellent workshop led by Craig Pinkney from SOLVE.

September's theme was Youth Violence and Resolving Conflict and aimed to enable young people to explore the reality of knife/gun crime, the negative impact, and consequences of making poor life choices.

The workshop also covered the purpose of education, goal setting and strategies, which will enable participants to stick to their desired plans.

Participants were also encouraged to engage in reflective learning activities around issues that affect them in their daily lives.

U9-U14 players attended the workshop at various points over the month with excellent engagement and questions for Craig.

Thank you to the 40+ parents who also attended the parent workshop during the month.

Craig gave great advice to support young people with this difficult topic.

  • Develop awareness of the issues young people are going through.
  • Talk to young people (Be real with them)
  • Talk to other parents/adults about their experiences.
  • Don’t suffer in silence, reach out for help.

The October U9-U14 Life skills topic will be No Room For Racism with KickitOut coming in to deliver sessions to the players.
