The Norwich City academy has partnered with a local teacher training school to give its players access to quality education.
The OAKS Norfolk is a new teaching provider based in Norfolk which aims to recruit high quality teachers to the area, and they’ll work closely with the academy to provide its players with bespoke one-to-one tutoring across a range of core subjects.
The programme will predominantly focus on GCSE year group pupils who’ll receive personalised support from The OAKS trainee teachers at the Lotus Training Centre every week.
The OAKS will work closely with the player’s individual teachers from each of their secondary schools to ensure that there is a joint up approach to the delivery of content for all young people.
Education manager at the club Matt Wells said: “We are excited to be working with OAKS Norfolk in supporting the under-15 and under-16 registered players at the academy.’’
’’We are looking to develop an innovative programme, with OAKS Norfolk, that will enable the players, registered with the academy to make outstanding progress in their GCSE qualifications alongside their football development.’’
Director of The OAKS Norfolk, Amy Smith, said: “We are incredibly proud to offer personalised educational content to our future Norwich City players.
“As part of our unique training provision, we offer our trainee teachers a wide range of experiences of education outside of the school building – and this partnership is another valuable string to our bow that means that our future teachers are equipped to teach across a range of spheres.”
