Under-23s coach Alan Neilson praised the intensity his players showed in the 5-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Premier League 2 Division 2 match was won comfortably by the Canaries thanks to goals from Bali Mumba, Jon Rowe (2), Abu Kamara and Tom Dickson-Peters. However, it was the clean sheet that pleased Alan the most as it was earned by real intensity all over the pitch.
“The pleasing thing is we have kept our first clean sheet (since the opening day against Southampton), so the defenders are happy and the team are happy,” he said.
“I am really pleased with the intensity that we showed and it is the whole team (that gets the clean sheet).
“We work from the front, to the two midfield players, to the back and then the goalkeeper. They all played a part.”
The front three of Kamara, Dickson-Peters and Rowe caused Wolves plenty of problems and Neilson praised their movement.
“They (Wolves) played a high line and we said at half-time that maybe we will have to look a little bit longer,” said Alan. “Not too smash balls forward but to feed them in behind and the runs by the front players really helped that. They kept on making them and they took their goals well.”
Norwich included two experienced players in Bali Mumba and Sam Byram, who is coming back from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
“They were fantastic,” added Alan. “The attitude from both of them has been really, really good and it is great that Sam has got through 70 minutes.
"That was really pleasing. Bali got through 90 minutes, and he was playing slightly out of position at left back but he showed his quality on the ball. He keeps the ball really well and he got two assists and scored the first goal for us.”
