Norwich City keeper Angus Gunn says the team need to show more resilience in games after a 3-0 away defeat at Leicester City.
The Canaries matched their opponents for large parts of the first half and were perhaps unfortunate not to go into the break ahead when Teemu Pukki hit the base of the post.
However, Jamie Vardy opened the scoring for the Foxes, with a fortunate deflected strike, seven minutes into the second half and from that moment on Norwich never recovered.
“I think it is another disappointing one from us,” said Angus. I think in the first half we did put on a good show, and we are probably a bit disappointed not to go in one or two up. They were putting a lot of pressure on us, but on the counterattack we did have a few really good chances and I think if one of them goes in then it could have been a different story.
"We were obviously backs against the wall for quite a lot of the game, to be honest but I felt pretty comfortable in the first half to go in with a clean sheet and then the deflection for the first goal was not kind to us but those things happen in football.
“From our point of view, the main thing, was that our reaction to that wasn’t good enough. That has happened quite a bit this season and it is something we need work on for next year because when you go down in games you need to show that resilience. That is definitely something for us to work on and I’m sure we will be getting better at that next year."
The game was also a chance for two players, who started off the season with the under-23s to get more Premier League game time. Tony Springett made his full debut, while Jon Rowe came off the bench.
“I am really happy for both of them,” added Angus. “Tony (Springett) got his full debut tonight and I thought he did well when he came on at the weekend and again tonight, I thought, he looked pretty strong.
“He was causing some danger in the first half. I think it is a lot to expect of the young lads to come in and change the whole season. I think from there point of view it is good to get them integrated before next year because I am sure they’ll be part of our squad and hopefully they will have bright futures here.”
