Welcome back to Carrow Road for our first home game since the break for the World Cup.
Although we have kept a close eye on the tournament, we have missed domestic football and we were delighted with the manner of our victory at Swansea last weekend.
Dean has reflected on this in greater detail in his regular matchday column, but the application, spirit, and desire of the players to secure three points at the Swansea.com Stadium sets the tone for the second half of the season.
While we do tend to look forward rather than backwards, we had initially planned to have Alex Tettey join us here this weekend.
Paying tribute to the achievements of a player who contributed so much during his time here, but failed to get the goodbye he deserved due to the behind-closed-doors games at the time, is something that we know the fans would have liked to do.
However, he has sadly fallen ill earlier this week and will not be able to visit Carrow Road. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back here soon.
Of course, we are already deep into the Christmas period and we are delighted to be partnering with Nourishing Norfolk as part of the EFL’s Supporting Communities campaign.
The cost of living crisis is having a severe effect on people across the country and we will continue to show our support for the local community wherever possible.
Today, over 800 people from the county will be at the game through Nourishing Norfolk’s Social Supermarket scheme. For those of you attending today, we welcome you to Carrow Road and we hope to provide more opportunities in the coming weeks.
We will always be a community club and we were delighted to be able to resume our Christmas visits for the first time in three years.
During the last few days, 17 players have visited Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, James Paget Hospital and East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices to hand out presents and bring some happiness to patients and to the staff.
These visits are an important part of our work in the area and we know these magical moments can give everyone who is in a hospital or a hospice at this time of year a real lift.
It is a small gesture on the club’s part, but something we have sorely missed doing over recent years.
We go into this afternoon’s fixture with those fans very much on our minds and we hope to be able to give them another boost with victory over Blackburn under the Carrow Road lights.
