Norwich City Under-18s captain Brad Hills felt the scoreline was an unfair reflection on his team as the Canaries lost 2-1 at Tottenham Hotspur Under-18s on Friday.
canaries.co.uk: How frustrating was it to concede two goals in a matter of minutes against Spurs?
BH: “It was a frustrating result because yet again it felt like we deserved more but our own mistakes cost us the game again. I didn’t think we looked like we were going to concede after those two goals so it was very frustrating.”
canaries.co.uk: Do you think the scoreline was an unfair reflection of how played?
BH: “Yes definitely, I can’t really think of many chances they had, maybe towards the end when the game started to get a bit stretched, but most of the game was played in their half.”
canaries.co.uk: The team has lost six out of their last ten games now by one goal, how frustrating is that?
BH: “It sums us up this year really, we create a lot of chances and get to the final third but it’s just that final product we’ve been lacking all season.”
canaries.co.uk: Do you think that your performances over the season have warranted more points?
BH: “I think it’s been a bit of both, I think the table’s reflection is harsh because I don’t think we’ve been that bad this year. As a whole it’s been tough but there’s been a lot of positives to take out of it as well.
“But credit to the lads because I think we do work hard week in week, out but we haven’t had much luck this year.”
canaries.co.uk: You scored yesterday, and you’ve scored a couple of goals this season from corners so is that something you’ve been working on?
BH: “Obviously I’m happy to get on the scoresheet again but I think that I can still add more to my game, especially from set pieces, because I see myself as a threat in the air and I do love scoring goals, but as a team we need to be more ruthless in the final third.”
canaries.co.uk: You played in the Round Robin tournament on Tuesday, what was the experience like in front of all the cameras and against Garuda Select?
BH: “It was good to play a different team, someone we’d not seen anything about, so it was another learning experience. We didn’t play our best football, but at the end of the day we won both games and it’s two more wins under the belt.”
canaries.co.uk: You’ve got three games left in the league now, how important is it that you finish the season strongly?
BH: “We’re all looking to finish the season on a high and hopefully we do because it will be nice and we deserve it I think. We’ll make sure that we finish on a high.”
