Brandon Williams has won the fan-voted War Paint for Men Player of the Month award for January.

The Manchester United loanee featured in each of our four matches across the Premier League and FA Cup.

Along with plenty of crucial blocks and well-timed tackles, the 21-year-old got first assist for the club with a lung-busting run forward to set up Adam Idah in our 2-1 win at home to Everton.

He was also part of the City defence to keep clean sheets against Charlton Athletic and Watford during January.

“It feels really good for the month that we’ve had. We had a lot of top performances from individuals and more importantly we got some results as a team, but this is a proud moment.

“Personally, I really put my foot down, got comfortable and settled in. Now I’m ready to go for the next part of the season.

“The goal against Everton was something to remember and when you think about it, it makes you want more. It was a good game, we got the result, and I was happy to assist Adam for his first goal.

“It’s important that I get those numbers up and I want to keep going to hopefully have more of these moments.”

City beat Charlton Athletic, Everton and Watford across the FA Cup and Premier League in January, a run of form Williams attributes to the commitment within the team.

“The determination and us as a group, we know what we’re capable of. We’ve got another tough month coming up and hopefully we can get some good results.

“There have been some challenges, but settling in hasn’t been too difficult. Now I can just focus on my football with everything off the pitch sorted. I’m excited for the rest of the season.”

It’s proving to be a beneficial for loan move, providing experiences and situations different to those Williams had faced at Manchester United.

“It’s different in regards to where we are in the table but it’s a challenge for me and I’m willing to take it on.

“It’s been going really good with Dean Smith and Craig Shakespeare, we’re really starting to learn how they want us to play. Their ideas are coming across and we’re excited to keep on learning.”

Wolves are next up in the fourth round of the FA Cup, and Williams is looking forward to the tie.

“It’s another difficult challenge, going up to Birmingham. It’s always difficult to play there, I have done a few times. We’ve got one goal and that’s to win the game.”
