A look at former Norwich City player Robbie Brady's inclusion in the Republic of Ireland squad for the 2016 UEFA European Championships.
Born in Baldoyle, Dublin, Brady played youth football for St Kevin's Boys and was later spotted by Manchester United scouts, and eventually joined the club after turning 16 in January 2008.
He progressed through the system at Old Trafford and made his only appearance for the club in September 2012, coming off the bench against Newcastle United in the Capital One Cup.
His senior debut for the Republic of Ireland came a few weeks prior to his debut for the Red Devils, as he scored and claimed two assists in a 4-1 win over Oman.
Prior to his debut for Manchester United, Brady had spent time on loan with Hull City and returned to the Tigers on another loan.
He would eventually join Hull on a permanent basis in January 2013, and went on to make over 100 league appearances for the club before departing for Norwich in July 2015.
His first season with the Canaries saw him make 36 Premier League appearances leading into the 2016 European Championships, and Brady was named in Ireland's squad alongside Norwich team-mate Wes Hoolahan.
Martin O'Neill's side drew in their opening game against Sweden, before defeat to Belgium in the second fixture, with Brady playing the entirety of both games.
Ireland booked their spot in the Round of 16 with a 1-0 win over Italy, as the two Norwich players combined when Brady headed beyond Salvatore Sirigu from Hoolahan's cross.
They would meet France in the next round, and Brady would give Ireland the lead after only two minutes from the penalty spot, but France would turn the game around to win 2-1 via a brace from Antoine Griezmann.
Brady spent a further season at Carrow Road before joining Burnley in the summer of 2017. The Irishman spent five years at Turf Moor, and had a season with AFC Bournemouth.
The 32-year-old joined Preston North End in July 2022, and made 32 Sky Bet Championship appearances in the 2023/24 season.
