Todd Cantwell and Jon Tomkinson were special guests at a Tampa Bay Rowdies junior soccer camp on Tuesday evening.

Following City’s opening day of training in Tampa, the duo were joined by Rowdies first team players Raiko Arozarena and Aarón Guillén in attending the Yellow and Green soccer camp.

Over 50 aspiring youngsters attended the training camp, held at the Rowdies’ new first team training complex, in partnership with Visit Tampa Bay.

Following an introduction and question and answer session with the group, the players then helped guide the youngsters through a selection of training drills before signing autographs.

Speaking to canaries.co.uk, Cantwell said: “It was really nice to surprise some of the kids at the training camp. It was a great experience and really good to see young boys and girls coming together to enjoy their football.

“At their age, it is really important that kids just enjoy their football and it was good to see that here at the camp.”

Tomkinson added: “It was great to see how excited the kids were about the game and how it’s really growing here in America. That’s really nice for me to see.

“The facilities and environment that the kids have here at this camp is great and you can really see that they are inspired by some of their surroundings.”

Samantha Ishee, youth development manager for Tampa Bay Rowdies, said: “It has been a really exciting time for these kids.

“Right before the holidays, to have both Norwich City and Rowdies players here has hopefully provided them with a really fun experience, whilst giving them an insight into life as a professional soccer player.”
