Christos Tzolis became Norwich City's latest summer signing on Thursday when he put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal with the club.
We sat down with Christos following his signing and medical to discuss his feelings about moving from Greece to England.
Canaries.co.uk: Welcome to Norwich City, Christos. How does it feel?
Tzolis: First of all, I would like to thank you for the very good welcome. I’m very happy and very happy to be a part of this team. I hope to see the fans as fast as possible.
Canaries.co.uk: You played with Dimitris Giannoulis at PAOK Salonika. Was he a reason why you came here?
Tzolis: He was one of the reasons. I have a very good relationship with him. We played for six or seven months together in the same side at PAOK and in the national team. I’m very happy to be with him here, he will help me, and I will help him also.
Canaries.co.uk: It’s a Premier League club with a reputation for developing young players, was that attractive to you as well?
Tzolis: Yes, also this. I spoke with the coach and he told me the plan and what he will do with me in the team. It was a very good project for me to sign here.
Canaries.co.uk: From your conversations with head coach Daniel Farke and sporting director Stuart Webber, did they give you a good impression of the club?
Tzolis: Yes. From the first moment, I was really, really excited to come here. I said to my agent to sign as fast as possible here. It’s a very good step for me.
Canaries.co.uk: For those who don’t know too much about you or haven’t seen you play, could you tell us a bit about your style?
Tzolis: I like to score, I like to score goals. As a winger I like to go every time to the box to shoot and create chances for my teammates. I’m also fast and I can dribble with both feet.
Canaries.co.uk: Last season, you had a successful one with your previous club. Just tell us about that and have you had time to recharge ahead of the new season?
Tzolis: Last season, I didn’t expect to do these things. It was my first professional season. I did good stats, we won the cup in Greece. It was a very good season for me and I hope to continue like this here in the Premier League.
Canaries.co.uk: And you’ve had a good summer, a chance to relax…
Tzolis: Yes. I relaxed for some days, but not too much because I also had the national team. But I’m ready for the new season.
Canaries.co.uk: You mentioned the fans earlier. How much are you looking forward to meeting them at Carrow Road?
Tzolis: I have this chance on Saturday and I cannot wait. I really want to play in front of the fans, over the last year I haven’t played in front of fans so it will be good for me to play in front of them.
