This weekend, clubs around the country will support the FA’s Play Safe campaign, which aims to promote the awareness of safeguarding in football.
Norwich City and Derby County players will help to highlight the campaign by wearing Play Safe warm up t-shirts before their Sky Bet Championship fixture on Saturday.
Ahead of the weekend, the Canaries have launched the new Safer Sport department, which sees a merger of safeguarding and player care staff, ensuring that safer recruitment, safe practice and the highest standards of care underpin all of the club’s activities.
In addition, a new dedicated Safe Space facility will open at the Leeds United fixture at Carrow Road to ensure that matchday safeguarding incidents can be dealt with in a comfortable and more professional environment.
Additionally, the club have recently been accredited with a Safeguarding Fundamentals silver award to highlight best practice standards.
During half-time at Saturday’s fixture, both Norwich City and Derby County will be presented with their Safeguarding Fundamentals Silver awards by ex-England international Dr Paul Stewart.
Dr Stewart said: “It’s an absolute pleasure working with the professional Safer Sport team at Norwich City.
“Their relentless commitment to keeping children safe is commendable and the SGF Silver award reflects this.”
