Friday afternoon’s Premier League 2 Division 2 match saw City put on a dominant performance against Middlesbrough, to win 4-0 at the Lotus Training Ground Centre.

City started slow and struggled to get the ball into the final third to test the visitors, with only one shot from Abu Kamara in the first 10 minutes.

The Yellows had moments of dominance and then lost possession, but they continued to track back and not put themselves under too much pressure in their own half.

At the 18-minute mark, Shipley had to make an important clearance not far off the line, as he put the ball out of the danger area and behind for a corner.

Their patience and determined attitude was soon rewarded as Tony Springett used his pace down the left wing to cross over to Flynn Clarke in the box, who slotted home into the bottom right corner.

The home side then found their confidence on the ball, as they prevented Middlesbrough from testing City keeper John McCracken at all for the following ten minutes.

Norwich then made things worse for the visitors, as Clarke netted his second for City at 38 minutes.

After a scramble in the box, his shot hit the post and rolled into the back of the net.

City continued to push forward for another, as Kamara was inches wide of the target from a Springett cross, seconds before half time.

Middlesbrough made two changes at the break, and unsurprisingly looked rattled by the impressive first half performance from the home side.

This only encouraged City to throw everything they could at their opponents, as shot after shot was teed up for a long list of players, including two for Clarke on a hat-trick and one for Liam Gibbs that was just narrowly wide of the target.

City’s prayers were answered at 67 minutes, as playmaker Tony Springett found the back of the net after he cut inside his defender on the wing.

Norwich still came knocking, refusing to sit back, as Shipley raced past the red defence on the left wing to set Kamara up from close range for City’s fourth.

The chances kept coming, as substitute Joe Duffy’s shot made the target but was collected by Boro keeper Sol Brynn.

Christoph Zimmermann had the last chance in the 90th minute, as his curling effort from outside the box was just too high to make it five.
