Norwich City have completed the signing of midfielder Anis Ben Slimane from Sheffield United on a season-long loan, with an option to make the move permanent upon the completion of certain criteria.
The Tunisian international was originally born in Denmark where he began his career in football.
Slimane was coached by current City boss Johannes Hoff Thorup as a youngster when in the academy setup at Akademisk Boldklub, where he would eventually progress to make his professional debut in 2017.
In 2020, Slimane made the move to Brøndby, making a total of 121 appearances, winning the Danish Superliga in the 2020/21 season.
Slimane then signed for Sheffield United last summer and made 15 appearances in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old has represented the Tunisia national team on 34 occasions, scoring four goals.
On signing for City, he said: "I'm really excited to get started and finally be here now. I can't wait.
"I know the manager pretty well and I've been told a lot of good things about the club, fans, training facilities. I'm just really looking forward to getting started and giving something back to the fans."
Sporting director Ben Knapper added: “We’re delighted to welcome Anis to the club. We feel he is another really good addition that will increase the competition within our group and give us more options and flexibility.
“He adds a slightly different profile than what we have already, and can draw upon experience of both the Premier League and international football. We feel we can help him improve further, too.”
Slimane will wear number 20 during his time at the club.
