New artwork has been placed on the exterior of Carrow Road in honour of former Norwich City captain and club legend Duncan Forbes.
The mural, which is situated on Geoffrey Watling Way, between the Regency Security Stand and the Joma Community Stand, pays tribute to Forbes, who captained the club to the top tier of English football for the first time in 1972.
A plaque will also be unveiled at 2.55pm ahead of the Canaries' clash with Blackburn Rovers at Carrow Road on Saturday, December 17.
The Scot, one of the inaugural Norwich City Hall of Fame inductees, made 366 appearances for Norwich over a 13-year period and is considered one of the club's greatest ever players.
In his retirement from playing, he would take on various other roles within the club ranging from commercial to scouting, spending almost 33 years with City.
He sadly passed away in October 2019 at the age of 78 following a battle with Alzheimer's.
A statement from the Forbes family read: “We would like to express our delight at the unveiling of the mural to commemorate Duncan’s achievements at the football club.
“We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the club, its board and owners for their continued support through Duncan's illness and since his passing, which has been overwhelming.
“Duncan would be very proud to be remembered in this way and certainly was Norwich to the core.”
Zoe Webber, executive director at Norwich City, said: “Following Duncan’s sad passing, there has always been a desire to create a permanent memorial to honour his legacy at Carrow Road.
“Following consultation with the Forbes family on the mural, its location and the selected image, we’re happy we’ve created an iconic and recognisable mural to remember Duncan.
“It’s important that we honour and remember our history. Duncan will forever be part of the fabric of this football club, and we’re extremely proud to honour him in this way.”
The Community Sports Foundation currently run Duncan's Club in honour of Forbes, a weekly support session for people with dementia and their carers, held at The Nest.
