Our August Community Hero, in partnership with Fosters Solicitors, is Sofia Honey Adcock, for our Carabao Cup round one fixture against Birmingham City.
Sofia, 8, and her family were part of a group that visited the Lotus Training Centre on Thursday with the Community Sports Foundation to watch first team training. She was officially invited to be the Community Hero for the game by Jordan Hugill.
When Sofia Honey was five, she was diagnosed with leukaemia. She has been fighting for over 800 days and is finished treatment in June this year.
Her mum, Sammy, told the club that she never moans about anything, and always gives whatever she can.
Sammy said: “Her heart is honestly bigger than her little body. I think it’s time she was recognised for her courage and caring personality.”
In a long list of ‘random acts of kindness’, as Sofia likes to call them, the young City fan has been largely involved in fundraising and doing her best to improve upon the lives of others.
Some of these acts include designing hoodies and T-shirts to sell to make money to charity, donating over £1,000 worth of Christmas presents to Addenbrookes Hospital and bringing over 100 Easter eggs to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital for the children who had to stay over during the Easter period.
Earlier this year, Sofia Honey also took a gift to the adult cancer ward as she knew there was a young girl who had leukaemia too. On the way, she gave out chocolate bunnies to general public walking the corridors.
Sofia Honey’s mum also told us: “When she had a lumbar puncture, she wouldn’t eat until all the boys and girls were out of theatre, as she feels bad if she is eating and they aren’t.
“She also calms them down if they are too scared and tells them it’s just a little sleep. She will go to the shops and get them a little treat to enjoy after!”
Above all, Sofia Honey was able to ring the bell on June 16, 2022.
Her and her family have since decided to hold a fundraiser in aid of the Jenny Lind department at NNUH. Sofia Honey hopes to use the money to make it a better place for others.
