This month’s Fosters Solicitors Community Heroes are the top fundraisers for the Community Sports Foundation’s Virtual 150-Mile Challenge; Sue Quantrill, Neil Hall and Genie Barham.
The challenge was put in place with the aim for supporters to make a difference from the comfort of their own home, walking 150 miles during February and March, whilst raising vital funds for both the Community Sports Foundation and Big C.
Participants can achieve this in any way they like, whether that is by walking, running, cycling or even swimming.
Paul Hunter, senior events manager from the Foundation said: "Neil, Genie, and Sue have shown extraordinary dedication and commitment in taking on the Virtual 150-Mile challenge, raising vital funds for the Community Sports Foundation and Big C.
“Their efforts will not only help us continue our work in transforming lives through sport but also inspire others to support our community initiatives.
“We are incredibly grateful for their hard work and passion, and it is an honour to recognise them with the Community Hero award."
On being nominated for the award, Neil said: “I’m really honoured to have been nominated as the Community Hero for the 150-mile virtual walk.
“It’s been great, I’ve raised money for the Community Sports Foundation and Big C, and my dog, Jasper, has loved the extra-long walks.”
Sue Quantrill said: “It was lovely to be chosen as a Community Hero, but the award belongs to all the 150 virtual walkers that took part in the challenge. Both charities provide so much for the community.
“The Big C charity provided support when I lost my husband to a brain tumour and advice for how I could support my son, who was seven years old at the time.
“I started volunteering with the Community Sports Foundation in 2022 when Duncan's Club began and became aware of how much the Foundation does for the community.”
Alongside our heroes, Canaries legend Grant Holt will also lead a 150-mile journey around the north of the county, walking day and night from Wednesday, April 16, in King’s Lynn, until he arrives back on the Carrow Road pitch for Norwich City’s fixture against Portsmouth on Friday, April 18.
