Norwich City Under-18s coach Greg Crane says he is expecting a good and physical game ahead of their fixture against Reading on Saturday morning (11am KO).
The Under-18s fell to a 2-1 defeat in their league opener at home to Leicester City, and will look to bounce back with a win over Reading.
"We've had a really good training week," Crane says.
"It's been quite hard this week, as we've had a few midweek friendlies coming up but it's been a good, hard week of training.
"I really enjoyed our first performance, I saw elements of things from certain players that we've been working on, so that's really encouraging to see. We're happy with some of the individual performances.
"I think we lacked just a little bit in the final third. On another day, we might've scored four or five. In terms of our development, it's really good for the lads. Other than the result, I felt it was a good opening day."
Crane outlined how rotation will be key to these opening few weeks as the players all get an opportunity to shine.
"We'll rotate the team, so there'll be different players starting tomorrow. The worst thing for scholars is not to play, so we try to rotate and get every lad playing as much as possible. It's all about getting players over the line, getting them careers in football at whatever level it might be.
"We'll give them games, because it helps them improve and get better. Helps us see the end product as a player and as a person too. It's really important for us, we obviously want to win games, but we won't sacrifice a player's development for the sake of three points at Under-18 level.
"We've played Reading a lot before they stepped down into Category Two. They used to go quite young with their squads, as they had a lot of players involved in their first-team. But they've always got good players, it's a great catchment area for them.
"I'm expecting a good, physical game. They had a good game against Fulham, so I'm expecting to have another competitive game and want our boys to really compete and show what they've got."
