Crane: There's still more we can work on

Norwich City Under-18s coach Greg Crane says there's still more for his side to work on, as they continued their pre-season with a 3-2 win over Ipswich Town.

Alex Roberts, Pedro Amadou and Damari Daley were all on the scoresheet as the Under-18s were winners on Tuesday morning.

"Once we settled down in the first half, I felt we had some good patterns of play and good movement. We took our goals very well, but there's still a lot more that we can work on," Crane said.

"It's a new group, we've been together for around four or five weeks. We've got a lot more bodies than we usually have, so it's all about getting the right messages across, then making sure we're brilliant at the basics.

"It's a pre-season game, it's all about who's improving and what can we get them better at. The lads love the results, which is good for their mentality. Win, lose or draw, we should always have the same mentality."

At this age, Crane is keen to see the right mindset develop within the players, as well as their physical development as footballers.

"It doesn't matter if we're 5-0 down in the last minute, you still need to run back and try to stop a cross. When the time comes, at first-team level, you need to get that habit in there," he adds.

"That's all part of their development. They're going to go goals up, and they're going to go goals down. As long as they keep learning and getting what they need out of games, it's the best outcome for us."

The Under-18s conclude their pre-season with an away fixture against Wolves on Saturday, August 5.
