Danel Sinani was delighted to get his first goal for Norwich City in Tuesday night's Carabao Cup first round game at home to Birmingham City.
The Canaries took a two-goal lead before Birmingham equalised late on, Norwich eventually deciding the game on penalties thanks to Josh Sargent.
"First of all, it was very important to go through this round," Sinani said. "I think we did it well. It was difficult in the second half. We didn't play our football like in the first half and conceded a lot of chances, which shouldn't happen, but we went through.
"\[To get my goal\] felt great. I've been waiting a long time for this moment and finally it happened, so I'm very glad to have done this. Now we'll focus on the next game.
"We have to improve on defending set-pieces. We've done it great but they scored once because of a lack of concentration. In the end, we won this game."
On the brink of half-time, Norwich went 2-0 up when Jacob Sørensen scored a screamer, firing into the top right corner from distance.
"Amazing," Sinani commented. "I can't... he showed also in pre-season against Marseille that he has a great shot and today he showed it again. Incredible shot and amazing goal."
Sinani has also been impressed by Norwich City Academy graduates Liam Gibbs and Jonathan Tomkinson, as well as new signings Gabriel Sara and Marcelino Núñez.
"They've done great," he said." They showed that they can compete in these big games, so they've done very well and played 90 minutes, and also, at the end Gibbo scored a penalty. That's not easy if you start with the first team, so he's done great.
"\[The new signings are\] good guys. We understand each other good even if they don't speak English. They're improving and football is one language so we understand it well."
On the penalty shootout, Sinani said that Norwich were prepared for the game to reach such a conclusion.
"We practiced it yesterday to be honest, but not the whole week, just to see what our preferred side was. We managed it well and our keeper did a great job, which makes the shootout easier."
