Daniel Farke: "We are fully focused on our game and we also expect that the other teams that are around us will win their points."

The squad go into the match knowing they need just two points to secure promotion to the Premier League, but with the game kicking off at 8pm there is also the possibility that if Brentford and Swansea City fail to win their matches – which kick-off at 12.30pm – Norwich could be promoted before the game starts.

Speaking on whether his team would be watching the other results coming in ahead of their game, Farke said: “No, we will be following our normal process. We are fully focused on our game and we also expect that the other teams that are around us will win their points.

“We want to be successful, and we want to win as many points as possible and we are against a really strong Bournemouth side who are also in good shape so we will follow our normal process and stay focused.”

Asked if there was any difficulty in doing that, Farke added: “It is not hard and on the second point there is no reason to ban (mobile phones) them. We have not done this before and there is no reason why should do this tomorrow.

“We are fully aware of our situation and we like to be in this situation. We are used to leading from the front and we have also celebrated lifting the Championship title two years ago. So, we are allowed to know the other results, but it is not like we will be sitting their nervous. We want to win as many points as possible and it will be great to bring it over the line tomorrow, but we face a really good opponent in Bournemouth who are also greedy to win this game and we have to be respectful and fully switched on.”

Farke, who was pleased to report that Emi Buendia has recovered from his swollen ankle to be in contention for the game, added that it was disappointing that the fans cannot be in the stadium for the game because of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, he added that he is sure the player will be able to celebrate with the fans should they get promoted, when protocols allow, and that he is proud of the supporters for the way they have conducted themselves and supported the team this season. 

“We are unbelievably disappointed that it is not possible because football without our supporters is not the same,” he said. “But the most important topic is that we do the job though and we make them proud.

"I am also proud of our supporters, because they have followed the guidelines and they have been pretty, pretty disciplined. I am hopeful that they stay disciplined and follow the guidelines. It is quite important that we do this and my players do this and it will not be the celebration like normal years, but I am confident that we will have the time to appreciate what we have done and celebrate with our fans. Sadly it will not be in these days but perhaps in a few weeks we will be allowed and we will find the time to celebrate.”
