Daniel Farke said it was important for his Norwich City side to feel the pain of last weekend’s defeat to Chelsea.
The Canaries suffered their heaviest defeat of the Farke era at Stamford Bridge and the City head coach is now looking for a response from his team on Sunday when Leeds United visit Carrow Road.
“The first few days after the defeat were difficult,” he said at his pre-match press conference. “When we analysed the game and then started to train, the feeling improves, but it still hurt a lot.
“It was important to feel the pain. We were very down after the result.
“Since the middle of the week, I got the feeling we weren’t looking back too much, and it was more about what we will face in the future.
“The near future is Leeds and everyone is focused on showing a response after the 7-0 defeat.
“We know against such an opponent (like Chelsea), it can happen. The top three in the Premier League are on a different level. We know if you are not on your best level, something like this can happen.
“We now want to show some pride and respond. And this is our task on Sunday.”
Looking ahead to this weekend, Farke is looking for his team to win some momentum back.
“Each and every game presents a chance. Leeds have done fantastic in the last two years. Perhaps the last few weeks have not been great for them, but we are very respectful of them.
“We know with this home game, against a team in the bottom half of the table, we want to deliver the points.
“We want to focus on ourselves. Against Brighton, we were close to winning points at home. We know when we are there with our best performance, we have a chance of winning some points and that’s what we want to do.”
