Daviss wins 2022/23 PFA Community Champion award

Norwich City are delighted to confirm that Millie Daviss has been chosen as the club and the Foundation's PFA Community Champion for 2022/23 season.

Norwich City are delighted to confirm that Millie Daviss has been chosen as the club and the Foundation's PFA Community Champion for 2022/23 season.

The Norwich City Women club captain has been working through an injury throughout a large part of the season but has continued her passion for the club and community off the pitch.

Daviss was present at the unveiling of a new orchard at The Nest back in February, as part of the club and Foundation's involvement in Green Football Weekend. Accompanied by six participants from the Foundation's Kicks programme and fellow Norwich City teammate Bryony Williams, they cut the ceremonial ribbon to officially open the orchard to the public.

She also delivered books to local school Bignold Primary School, and presented a trophy to the winners of the International Women’s Day Cup at The Nest back in March.

Previous winners of the award include Christoph Zimmermann and Russell Martin.

On being named for the award, Daviss said: "I love getting involved with lots of different community activities and meeting various inspiring individuals.

"I remember being a 10-year-old, fascinated by Norwich City players who would attend community activities. These players inspired me to become who I am today in terms of my football. I feel like I can be that role model now, and reach many people, particularly young people, to help them find their motivation to achieve their dreams.

"I want to inspire the next generation of female footballers and being a female player has given me the opportunity to give young girls (and boys), a vision of what they can be."

CEO of the Foundation, Ian Thornton OBE, said: "We are all extremely proud of Millie. Her off-the-pitch conduct within the community has been outstanding.

"She is a real role model for Norwich City and the Foundation and fully deserving of this award as she continues to inspire the next generation of footballers."
