Head coach Dean Smith made one change to his starting 11 on Saturday against West Brom, bringing in new signing Gabriel Sara for Todd Cantwell.
He gave his assessment of the game to canaries.co.uk and said: “I’m disappointed with the performance in general.
“I had that fear, after the first minute where I’m having to get people to squeeze up and get to the ball, that it was just going to be one of those days.
“Then we give a really soft goal away form a free kick and from then they banked off and stopped us playing and we never found a solution to open them up.
“We didn’t move the ball quick enough, again, too many unforced errors like there was in midweek against Bristol City.
“Fortunately, we got a point out of it; I think we dodged a bullet if I’m honest. They came to stop us playing and turned us around.
“We’ve got to be better with the amount of ball that we had.”
Gabriel Sara made his league debut for the side today, having assisted Josh Sargent’s goal against Bristol City earlier in the week.
“Sara made a good run in the first half where he got in behind, he hit the cross bar with a great effort but that was one of the highlights throughout.
“The bright player from us all was Aaron Ramsey, I thought he was excellent. He was the one who looked like he could do something.”
Sam Byram’s goal was his first for the club and meant City came away with a point against the Baggies.
“I’m pleased Sam got his first goal today and I’m pleased that he’s got through another game. Again, I felt all round that it wasn’t a great performance but it’s nice for him to get on the score sheet, especially having his birthday earlier in the week.
Going into the international break, Norwich remain in second place, three points behind Sjy Bet Championship leaders Sheffield United.
“I think the only thing we can take from this is maintaining an unbeaten run going into the international break; I just said that to the players.
“Since Hull, we’ve gone seven games unbeaten and there’s been a lot of games in a short period of time, maybe one too many.
“We’ll have a break and maybe it will be good to get away from each other for a few days. We can reset and be ready for Blackpool.”
