Norwich City Under-18s players Alfie Doy and Waylon Renecke talk through their season so far, as well as their ongoing development.
"I think at the start of the season, we were good," Renecke says. "The togetherness of the team was good. I feel that, recently, it's dropped a little bit.
"Standards may have dropped, but we're trying really hard to get them back up to where they should be in our performances."
"I feel like results went more our way at the start of the season," Doy adds.
"Now results haven't been going our way, and we've probably slacked and we need to get it back up to where it should be."
At Under-18 level, both players believe that these games are vital for their development as players, despite results not going their way.
"Every game is an opportunity to learn," Doy says.
"I think we need to take everything we can from every game even if it's a loss, win or a draw. We need to look and reflect on it and learn something from it."
"These games are really important for our development," Renecke echoes.
"Every game is a learning curve for us. If we're winning every game comfortably every week, there's not a lot we're able to learn from it.
"If we're losing, then there's problems but we can learn from those types of games and get better in ourselves."
Despite disappointing results, both players know where they can improve and how they can improve going forward.
"I think knowing that we need to be intense at all times during games," Renecke says.
"Because we know that not every game is going to be intense.
"And it's all about being smarter with our game management, knowing about our opponents and adapting from that."
"It's about learning all over the pitch," Doy explains.
"Our game management needs to be better, and work on our intensity. As a team, we need to work together and stay as a unit consistently throughout the game."
Approaching the end of the season, the Under-18s only have six league fixtures remaining, and both players are keen to end on a positive note.
"Going into next year, ending positively is really important. All of the team, especially the first-years, want next season to be successful and ending the season well is a great way to do that."
"It's really important to end well," Renecke adds.
"Especially for us mentally going into the next season. But we're trying really hard to make sure results start going our way again."
The Under-18s are back in action next weekend, as they welcome West Ham United to the Lotus Training Centre.
